Looked like the wooden-head was obeying the beetle after all. He heard the sound of ripped fabric, and guessed maybe he'd torn a hole in his pants, but he didn't care.Īs he turned to make his next shot, he saw Pinocchio throw his cigar away, and suppressed a sigh of exasperation. He waved a dismissive hand, leaning over the pool table to make another shot. He figured Pinocchio was upset by the dismissal of his so-called conscience – a talking beetle telling him what to do and what not to do. He grinned at the strange wooden boy, Pinocchio, after lowering his mug, who stared back at him, something akin to shock on his face, and shoving his own beer away. "You hear that beetle talk, you'd think something was gonna happen to us." He poured an entire mug of cold beer down his throat, feeling a thrill of forbidden pleasure as he swallowed the booze. ![]() "Huh!" Lampwick snorted disdainfully, thinking of the beetle called Jiminy that had interrupted his good time.
